[some thoughts on] David Williamson's Torn & Restored Transpo

I'll be using some materials from my previous publication -A List Material for my AMA lecture, but there's a bonus item that's going to worth the price of the my notes - A special 2009 AMA lecture notes insert:

[some thoughts on] David Williamson's Torn & Restored Transpo

David Williamson’s Torn & Restored Transpo is without doubt one of the strongest pieces of card magic ever devised. Many working magicians have used and are still using it in their repertoire. It’s therefore understandable that new finesse and variation emerges. Chad Long has created an impromptu version called Torn & Kinda Restored which was published in The Lost Cheesy Notebooks - Volume Two, another genius magician Pit Hartling, based on David’s comments and observations, explored the application of “Inducing Challenge” in David’s routine which can be found in the excellent Card Fictions.

If you still haven’t learnt the working of Torn & Restored Transpo, I strongly advise you to pick up Williamson’s Wonder or Sleight of Dave DVD as well as the two titles mentioned above to learn and study this effect.

The actual method I offer here is very derivate of David’s original, and is by no means an improvement but an alternative. It gives me the great pleasure to have the blessing from David to explain it in

my AMA lecture.

As for David's own thoughts on my handling:

... It sounds like a cool handling of the effect. I think it shows how different performers can, and should put their own personal touches and ideas into established routines. I like it.

... if we both use our versions in lectures, both routines are valid and it's a useful lesson in routining and making a trick your own.

Well...get ready for some really awesome stuffs!
