2009 AMA [Asian Magic Association] Convention Lecture Outline
It gives me the great pleasure to be one of the guest performers and lecturers on 2009 AMA [Asian Magic Association] Covention which is going to take place on 26th-29th this month in JiangSu. This is the first time on the AMA history that a Chinese magician is being invited to give a lecture and this is also going to be the 50th magic lecture that I will be ever given. Now, that gives me many reasons to make this lecture the best ever (at least when comparing with those which I have delivered)
So here's a bit of extra service from yours sincerely, I am going to share my lecture outline(without leaking out too much actual content) here, so that the attendents of AMA convention or my lecture can use this as a tool for revision.
The topic of my lecture is:
"How to construct a commercial close up magic act"
Objective: Trick doesn't matter, but the nature of trick matters!
5 major topics will be covered in this lecture, in which I will be performing and demonstrating effects that fit into that category to illustrate my points. Most of the materials appear in this lecture are taking out directly from my working repertoire and never before released.
The 5 major topics are listed below:
1) Promotion
The most important thing for any commercial worker
2) Opener
How to establish your credibility as a magician and subtly telling your spectator that it's not going to be a waste of time to watch your performance
3) Entertainment Value, Spectator Interaction/Involvement, Visual Quality
The 3 essential elements in your magic
4) Enchantment
Keep your spectator alerted, awaked and concentrated on your performance
5) Closer/Encore
How to create lasting impression on your spectator
yeah, this stuff is "creating professional competition for myself" good, but heck, I ought to showoff some of my best materials, because David Williamson will also be lecturing there!!!
Am really looking foward to it!
